Easter Saturday

It’s different from the other days because there is no alarm clock. No need to hurry. Lazy breakfast. Tick off a few chores. Clean the BBQ. Trip to the supermarket. Marinade the lamb for Sunday lunch. Coffee and a hot cross bun. Prepare the veggies. Watch a movie. Sleep.

A few more hours and the next day will dawn.

It’s different from the other days because he has gone. Shock. Did that really happen. Grief. Would they really never see him again? The horror of what happened. The shame that they weren’t there for him. Confusion. Who was he anyway? Fear. Will they be next?

A few more hours and the next day will dawn.
